After the petting zoo, we went for a walk around Beacon Hill Park and met some very friendly Japanese students. We have been working on how to start conversations, so we decided to give it a try – and it WORKED!
The Japanese students started talking with us right away. They were returning home from a get-together with other friends and had some traditional Japanese clothing and snacks with them, so they dressed some of us up in traditional Japanese clothes and shared their snacks.

They were very warm and friendly. This is a huge difference between Hong Kong and Canada. In Hong Kong, it would be weird if we just walked up and started talking to strangers, but this quite normal in Canada as it is part of their culture.
